Curriculum Strength and Advanced Testing: Do They Matter?

Curriculum Strength and Advanced Testing: Do They Matter?

we became talking with a mother of the prospective student recently. She brought up questions regarding our assessment of rigor and AP/IB/SAT Subject tests. These concerns have recently come up more regularly and so I thought it might be fitting to address it in a blog. Possibly it’s because AP tests are coming quickly and pupils are beginning to question it to take the tests if it is worth.

First, let’s address rigor. The overall inquiry appears to essentially boil down seriously for this:

Are admission counselors able to objectively and fairly evaluate the curriculum strength of each and every student?

In word, YES. At USC, we now have one of the greatest, if perhaps not the admission staff that is largest of any private university in the country. Each user is assigned to a domestic or region that royal vegas australia is international or both. We take pride in taking care of our territories. Relationships are forged and maintained with high school counselors, parents and students that are prospective. The objective is to have comprehensive and detail by detail understanding of our territory. We are extremely conscious of exactly what an application that is competitive like within its appropriate context. Ultimately, you are able to give consideration to us as context specialists. Context is especially essential in our process. We understand that rigor appears vastly unique and different for every school. Usage of scholastic and extracurricular tasks in each school that is high town, and area will vary.

It is got by me…rigor and context are crucial. Is sensible. So now that i have taken all these advanced level courses, is it actually beneficial to just take the tests?

In another word, well the word that is same YES. You have devote so much work learning the advanced level product all 12 months. Then simply take the test?! There are more benefits that are potential the obvious financial savings you may have if you had been to pass through these tests. In essence, you could end up freeing some devices to simply take on another minor or perhaps a dual major. Believe me, if you place in the ongoing work now, the huge benefits will outweigh the expenses much more.

Generally, if you get at least a 4 on any AP exam, or at the very least a 5 on any Higher Level IB Exam; then you’ll be able to transfer some credits into USC. To find out more, please go right to the USC Articulation site.

Finally, SAT Subject Tests, just what about those? Well, in a nutshell, they have been not necessary to make an application for almost any program that is undergraduate USC. But, then go ahead and submit those scores to us if you happen to be taking them for another school and you receive a great score. We shall certainly let them have a look.

All the best on everyone else using the AP and IB exams coming up. We hope this provides some of you a tiny bit more inspiration!
